The 2025 edition of the Africell Congo River Marathon took place in Kinshasa on 3 June

The 2025 edition of the Africell Congo River Marathon, held on 1 June in Kinshasa, has been hailed as a success, setting new records for participation and earning praise for its organization, international reach, and competitive standards.
This year’s event showcased an unprecedented level of logistical coordination and safety. New technical features included:
- Enhanced signage and directional markers at key junctions, including start/finish arches and clear roll-ups.
- Numerous well-stocked hydration stations for runners.
- A proactive medical presence from DIAMANT Medical Centre and Operation SMILE, including deployed ambulances and rapid-response teams.
Record-Breaking Participation
With 900 registered runners, this was the best attended edition of the Africell Congo River Marathon to date. Participants represented a wide range of communities across the DRC, along with nationals from the United States, United Kingdom, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Belgium, Germany, South Africa, Pakistan, India, France, and Congo-Brazzaville, among others.
Diplomatic dignitaries added gravitas to the event, including the U.S. and U.K. ambassadors. High-profile athletes from countries such as Spain, Italy, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Angola, Ethiopia, South Africa, Congo-Brazzaville, and Lebanon elevated the level of competition.
The marathon also received official recognition through the presence of Mr. Tom Kisenda, Special Adviser representing the Governor of Kinshasa.
