Africell Gambia has officially handed over the keys to the first house under its Nekal Borom Kerr loyalty programme, marking a major milestone in the initiative designed to reward customer loyalty in meaningful and life-changing ways.
The handover ceremony took place on 8 January at the Swami Airport Residency, where the winner, Modou Jobe from Toroba, was presented with the keys to his new two-storey villa. Modou arrived at the venue blindfolded and unsure of what awaited him. Surrounded by family and friends, emotions ran high when the blindfold was removed and he realised he had won a house. The keys were handed over by Africell Gambia CEO Hussein Diab Ghanem, alongside representatives of the Swami Airport Residency.
“I was very happy, I couldn’t even see clearly so I had to dry my eyes,” Modou said. “All I can say now is that Africell users should believe this — I just won an actual house!”
Speaking during the ceremony, Africell Gambia CEO Hussein Diab Ghanem said the moment reflects the true purpose of the Nekal Borom Kerr programme.
“Nekal Borom Kerr was created to reward our customers for something they do every day: recharging their Africell lines. Seeing Modou receive the keys to his new home shows how loyalty can truly change lives. This programme is a promise to our customers, and today we are proud to see that promise fulfilled,” he explained.
The Nekal Borom Kerr loyalty programme was launched in June 2025, allowing Africell subscribers to earn points automatically by recharging their lines as usual, either through standard airtime purchases or by recharging via Afrimoney. The grand prize includes two villas located at the Swami Airport Residency, with the first now officially awarded.
Modou Jobe’s win was confirmed during the grand final draw held on 4 January, following weeks of daily shortlisting conducted on Africell’s festive TV programme, the Xallis Kesseh Show.
With the first house now handed over and a second still to be won later in 2026, Africell Gambia continues to demonstrate its commitment to rewarding customer loyalty in ways that create lasting impact.
