Africell The Gambia has successfully completed the migration of its mobile network from the previous 7-digit numbering format to The Gambia’s new 9-digit national numbering plan.
The project required months of preparation, coordination and extensive testing across multiple platforms, including the core network, charging and billing systems, USSD, Afrimoney, roaming, IT systems and external integrations.
A full dry run was successfully completed ahead of the final cutover to ensure the readiness of all systems and minimise disruption to customers.
The successful migration was achieved through close collaboration between Africell’s technical and business teams and external partners. It represents an important milestone in Africell Gambia’s continued investment in reliable, scalable infrastructure and supports the future growth of mobile and digital services in The Gambia.
