The Africell Impact Foundation has awarded scholarships to twenty-five university-level students in Angola, reinforcing Africell’s long-term commitment to education, entrepreneurship and youth development.
The scholarships were presented during a ceremony at Africell Angola’s Luanda headquarters, attended by students, families and representatives of affiliated universities and colleges. The programme forms part of Africell’s broader mission to expand opportunity and help cultivate the next generation of curious, capable and conscientious Angolan leaders.
By supporting talented students across a range of academic disciplines (but with a focus on engineering and technology, healthcare, and business and law), the initiative aims to reduce financial barriers to higher education while encouraging academic excellence, civic responsibility and future leadership. It also aims to accelerate Angola’s national development by producing a cohort of young people with knowledge, skills and experience that can be applied to the country’s most pressing future challenges – including how to bring about a safe, innovative and inclusive digital transformation. Each scholarship covers full tuition costs for the 2026/27 academic year for high-performing students in their fourth or fifth year of study. Scholarships were awarded for studies at a total of fourteen elite Angolan institutions located in three provinces: Luanda, Huíla and Benguela.
“Education is the most powerful investments a society can make in its future,” said Jorge Vazquez, CEO of Africell Angola. “Through these scholarships awarded by the Africell Impact Foundation, we want to empower young Angolans with the tools, confidence and opportunities to shape their communities and their country.”
The ‘Africell Scholars’ programme is one of several Africell initiatives focused on education, skills development and social impact in Angola and the brand’s other operating markets of Democratic Republic of Congo, The Gambia and Sierra Leone. These include collaborations with top global universities including the University of Oxford and the London School of Economics, the development of a proprietary e-learning platform, and the rollout of tech-enabled learning centres in key cities covered by Africell’s network.
