To mark the close of Women’s Rights Month, the Africell Impact Foundation partnered with Woman Power to turn skills training into real economic opportunity for women and girls in Kibati, Goma, and Kibumba.
Participants in the ‘Elle Connecte’ programme received hands-on training in soap production, gaining both practical and entrepreneurial skills. The programme culminated in the launch of their own multi-purpose soap: “Nguvu ya Mwanamuke” – Swahili for “The Strength of a Woman” – a locally made product now available for sale at select stores in Goma.
“Before this training, I didn’t know I could build something of my own. Now I have a skill, a product, and a reason to believe in my future,” said a programme participant from Kibumba.
More than a soap, Nguvu ya Mwanamuke represents independence, dignity, and women’s economic empowerment. Africell believes that supporting women means building the future of entire communities – whether that is through training in the art of soapmaking, or through the provision of affordable and accessible telecommunications services tailored specifically to the needs of female consumers.
