Africell Gambia has officially opened a new Africell Impact Foundation (AIF) Creative Hub and Learning Centre, a landmark facility that will serve as a vibrant space for creative learning, cultural expression, and community engagement in The Gambia.
The inauguration took place on 30 October in the country’s capital, and brought together an impressive list of guests including Her Excellency the First Lady, Fatoumatta Bah Barrow, Africell Founder and Group CEO, Ziad Dalloul, members of the Africell Group Executive Committee, as well as government officials, diplomats, and business leaders.
Speeches were delivered by Africell Gambia CEO Hussein Diab Ghanem, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Eugene Young, and Minister of Tourism and Culture Abdoulie Jobe, with each emphasizing the Creative Hub’s potential to inspire innovation and open new opportunities for young Gambians.
In his remarks, Mr. Diab-Ghanem highlighted the company’s belief that progress begins with people. “At Africell, we believe that real connection goes beyond communication, it’s about creating spaces where people can learn, share, and grow together,” he said. “This Hub will nurture ideas, talent, and ambition. It’s a place where creativity meets opportunity, and where the next generation of Gambian innovators can take their first steps.”
The AIF Creative Hub and Learning Centre will deliver programmes in visual and performing arts, literacy, entrepreneurship, and digital skills such as coding and robotics. It will serve as a platform for individuals and communities to explore their creative potential while developing skills relevant to today’s digital economy.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere were performances by two of The Gambia’s most popular artists, Alieu Badara and Jizzle, who entertained guests with high-energy sets that reflected the creative spirit of the occasion.
The new facility is the first of its kind among all Africell operating markets, which include The Gambia, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Angola, and represents an important step forward in our company’s commitment to social impact.
Established in 2022, the Africell Impact Foundation drives the company’s community-focused initiatives across three core areas: Health, Sports & Wellbeing; Arts, Heritage & Culture; and Education & Entrepreneurship. Through projects like the Creative Hub and Learning Centre, AIF continues to bring people together and connect them to opportunities that promote long-term development and inclusion.
