Africell Angola has officially launched services into Zaire Province, one of the country’s major oil-producing centres
Africell has launched its award-winning mobile services in Soyo, adding Zaire Province into its national network footprint. Residents and businesses in the municipality, which is home to more than two hundred thousand people and is located in northern Angola at the mouth of the Congo River, can use Africell’s market-leading voice and data services, as well as the Afrimoney mobile money platform.
Soyo is an industrial and port city, known for the oil terminals of Barra do Cuanda. Africell’s arrival gives local households, traders and energy-sector workers more choice and better value for money in connectivity.
“Soyo is central to Angola’s economy, and its people deserve connectivity that keeps pace. Today we’re giving them real choice: fast, reliable, affordable mobile services, and a partner invested in their growth,” said Jorge Vazquez, CEO of Africell Angola.
The launch is the latest step in Africell’s phased expansion across Angola. Africell Angola passed eight million customers in August 2026, less than five years after starting commercial operations, and its internet services have been rated the fastest in Angola. Africell entered Angola in 2022, since when it has expanded from Luanda to provinces including Cuanza-Sul, Benguela, Huíla and Huambo.
On 11 September 2026, the Export Impact Bank of the Untied States (EXIM) announced that it was lending Africell almost $100 million to fund investment in secure US and US-aligned network technology in Angola.
