Africell was proud to be the lead partner of the pre-launch of the UK–DRC Economic Forum, held on 8 September 2026 at the Fleuve Congo Hotel in Kinshasa.
The UK-DRC Economic Forum is a new platform designed to strengthen dialogue between the public and private sectors, and to lay the foundations for fresh investment and cooperation between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the United Kingdom.
The pre-launch brought together a distinguished line-up of speakers, including member of the UK House of Lords Baroness Sandip Verma; Julien Paluku Kahongya, DRC Minister of Foreign Trade; Patrick Muyaya Katembwe, DRC Minister of Communication and Media; Jésus-Noël Sheke, Kinshasa Provincial Minister of Public Service and Transport; and Kory Webster, CEO of Africell DRC.
As a UK-headquartered company with deep roots in the DRC, Africell and the forum are a natural fit. Africell actively works to encourage British and American private sector investment in the country, and has championed the DRC’s story internationally, from Lobito Bound, the 2025 documentary on the DRC and Angola made with explorer Dwayne Fields and a UK production team, to cultural events and exhibitions targeted at the Congolese diaspora in London, Paris, New York and elsewhere.
It was an honour for Africell to support an event of such scale and significance for the DRC’s economy and development, and for its deepening partnership with the United Kingdom, and we look forward to the forum’s full launch.
