Africell Angola has officially started operations in Cabinda, bringing its network to one of the country’s most important oil-producing provinces.
Africell has launched its award-winning mobile services in Cabinda, adding the province to its national network footprint. Residents and businesses in Cabinda city can now use Africell’s market-leading voice and data services, as well as the Afrimoney mobile money platform.
Africell began operations on 21 October with the opening of its flagship store at Mercado Alto das Rolas, on Dr. António Agostinho Neto Avenue in the Deolinda Rodrigues neighbourhood. The launch brought together institutional representatives and members of the local community, and was programmed to reflect and celebrate the province’s distinctive cultural identity.
Cabinda is separated from the rest of Angola by a strip of DRC, which makes reliable connectivity especially important for its households, traders and energy-sector workers. The first phase of the rollout covers Cabinda city, with wider provincial coverage to follow.
“Cabinda has waited a long time for real choice in mobile services. Today we’re delivering it: fast, reliable, affordable connectivity, and a partner committed to the province’s growth,” said Jorge Vazquez, CEO of Africell Angola.
The launch is the latest step in Africell’s phased expansion across Angola, and follows its arrival in Soyo, Zaire Province, in September. Africell Angola passed eight million customers in August 2026, less than five years after starting commercial operations, and its internet services have been independently rated the fastest in Angola. Since entering Angola in 2022, Africell has expanded from its springboard in Luanda to provinces including Cuanza-Sul, Benguela, Huíla, Huambo and Zaire.
